Why
not bulldoze & burn?

These dozers appear proud of their work, and they have done
a fine job. However, some of these piles are bigger than
the huge oak trees, and the oaks are going to be scorched
when the cedar is burned. Scars on the trees and the ground
will last for years, and the bare and disturbed soil will
begin to wash away with the first rain.

This
is what a burn scar looks like - for years! Brush fires
get so hot they not only burn all the seeds, but also all
the soil-borne nutrients and microbes, rendering the soil
sterile and vulnerable to erosion. This is a good way to
grow rocks! Also notice the damage to the oak trees nearby.

Dozers
leave deep marks and kill existing grass - Hydro-Ax
equipment leaves minimal marks.
Scars
from dozers expose topsoil and promote erosion - Hydro-Ax
mulch provides cover to help stabilize soil.
Burning
destroys organic matter and sterilizes soil for up to five
years - Hydro-Ax mulch returns valuable
nutrients to the soil.
Burning
is hazardous in dry times, and may be completely banned.
Brush
piles are unsightly and kill existing vegetation.
Uprooting
cedar trees creates craters or soft spots and pulls up rocks
- Hydro-Ax equipment grinds stumps
to ground level, leaving the roots and rocks to hold the soil
in place.
